Justice Reform Partnership Strategist


Tanika L. Nicholas joined the Southern Center for Human Rights as the Justice Reform Partnership Strategist in April 2022. Her work is informed by both lived experience and more than two decades of nonprofit and advocacy leadership focused on deep commitment to dignity, healing, and systemic change.

Tanika leads statewide coalition-building efforts that center directly impacted voices, strengthen community partnerships, and support policy advocacy rooted in equity and lived experience. She is an active member of women- led advocacy organizations, including Igniting Hope Georgia, Southern Women in Motion (S.W.I.M.) and Women on the Rise Georgia. She also serves as a Fellow and trainer with the Ladies of Hope Ministries (LOHM) and is a Certified Peer Mentor through the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, supporting individuals navigating trauma, incarceration, and reentry.

Tanika holds an M.Ed. in Counseling from Troy University and a B.A. in Psychology from Grambling State University. She currently resides in her hometown of LaGrange, Georgia, where she enjoys sitting on the front porch with her grandfather and appreciating the simplicity of life.
