Sophie Tedesco joined SCHR as an Investigator in the Impact Litigation Unit in July 2025 after graduating from the University of Chicago.

Sophie earned her M.A. in the social sciences and B.A., summa cum laude with honors, in Public Policy Studies and Law, Letters, and Society. She received the Hugo F. Sonnenschein Medal of Excellence, the university’s highest undergraduate honor. Her thesis explored the influence of carceral logic and power in programs in Illinois jails and was awarded the Pozen Center for Human Rights Prize for the Best BA Thesis on Race and Human Rights.

As a student, Sophie facilitated creative writing workshops in Chicago’s Cook County Jail and competed on UChicago’s cross country and track teams. She was named to the 2024-25 Allstate NACDA Good Works Team and was a 2025 Rhodes Scholarship finalist. Sophie interned at the Policing Project at NYU Law School, the U.S. Commission for Civil Rights, and in the U.S. Senate.
